What is Certora's Capture the Funds?
A Solidity-based Capture-the-Flag (CTF) style security competition, in which you'll compete against other participants to exploit vulnerable DeFi protocols and earn the highest score. The competition will conclude on December 19, 2025 (15:00 GMT).
Oh bummer, December 19th has already past. What can I do now?
Don't worry! You can still participate in the Endless edition of the CTF by submitting your solution to the platform. Also, if you managed to beat the current winning score (by more than 25 ETH), you will win $1000.
I'm a very busy person. Can you convince me in one short paragraph why I should participate in Certora CTF?
Sure! Unlike standard CTFs, where you solve individual challenges, here you'll interact with an entire DeFi ecosystem populated with curated vulnerable mini-protocols. Exploiting these protocols requires a deep understanding of EVM-based smart contracts and the ability to think creatively. Most bugs are distilled versions of real-world vulnerabilities, so you'll get a chance to practice your skills on realistic scenarios.
Sounds interesting. How does scoring work?
Scoring is straightforward and compelling: you'll be ranked by the total amount of assets you can exfiltrate. Because many vulnerabilities admit partial or graduated exploitation, there's a rich spectrum of possible outcomes and strategies to pursue.
Do I have to use the Certora Prover to participate in Certora CTF?
Nope. You can use any tool you want to participate in Certora CTF.
I'm quite new to smart contract security. Do you think this CTF will be a waste of time for me?
Not at all! While you might not be able to reach the top spots on the leaderboard, we promise you'll learn a lot by participating.
When I submit my solution, I get a "Replay Error". What does that mean?
It means we couldn't replay your solution for some reason. Make sure it runs correctly in your local environment (on the initial state and in normal mode). If the problem persists, please contact us on Discord.
My submission score is not what I expected. What happened?
There may be a slight difference between your local score and the platform score. This is due to event emission omission during the attack replay, which actually works slightly in your favor. If you notice large discrepancies, please contact us on Discord.
